Online Fall Conference Set for September 8-11

The Self Storage Association announced today that it will celebrate its 45th Anniversary this year virtually, with an incomparable lineup of industry expertise, executive participation and compelling talent.

Due to the continued uncertainty involved in travel and gathering, the SSA Board of Directors has decided that the event will not take place in Las Vegas this September, but will be continuing with a robust program featuring some of our favorite speakers from past events, the chief executives of each industry public company, together with sessions to help you navigate this unique time in self storage. “Our staff and board are terribly disappointed that we cannot meet in-person this year,” said SSA President & CEO Timothy J. Dietz. “As you can imagine, preparing for the SSA annual conferences involves significant preparation by every stakeholder involved. We understand the important role this conference fills in your business and social schedules, however your health and safety will always be our top priority,” he said.

“Every member of our industry trade association is important, and we heard from many of you who wanted to continue with an in-person conference this year,” said SSA Chairman Dan Nixon. “The decision made by the board, in consultation with Tim, his team and the MGM Grand, reflects the unfortunate circumstance that so many other groups have faced this year.”

Nixon continued, “We are particularly disappointed for our vendor members that a trade show is not possible this year. In our opinion, this is one area that cannot be ideally replicated virtually. Our board thanks all suppliers to self storage operators for the critical role they fill in helping our industry progress.”

Attendees to the SSA 45th Anniversary Fall Conference will have three days to come and go, taking the sessions that most appeal to them:

•    A panel with every public company CEO on their 2020 experience and industry performance;
•    Astronaut Scott Kelly: tips on isolation from the man who spent a year in space;
•    Navy SEAL Rob O’Neill with new stories from his remarkable career;

•    15 breakout sessions to help you navigate the operational, regulatory, financial and legal pitfalls of 2020.
